Originally touted by Jack Daniel’s distillery as being the ‘first new grain bill in 100 years’, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye Tennessee whiskey is a truly iconic quaff. Combining a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley, J. D. Single Barrel rye uses sour-mash distillation and is mellowed through J. D.’s unique Lincoln County Process of charcoal filtration. Matured in charred American white oak barrels, this rye has a finished cask strength of 94% proof and is an ongoing release from J Daniels. On first pour, the nose catches aromas of rye loaf layered in baked malt, pepper, and baking spices. The taste is rife with more spices along with vanilla, caramel, and ground nutmeg.
